    In response to popular demand, the Florida Institute of Government is pleased to announce that another series of the From Supervisor to Leader online training program will be held April 1, 2 & 3, 2014.

    Originally developed as a three-day program held onsite, the Institute has distilled the core components of the traditional From Supervisor to Leader program to create a new curriculum that provides essential training to those who wish to improve their leadership abilities, but may not have the time, funds, or ability to travel to traditional training programs. All sessions will be taught by expert instructor Dr. Tippy Amick and have been developed to utilize the unique aspects of the webinar platform.

    Leadership that Works
    Tuesday, April 1, 2014 (10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, EST)
    What is the difference between being a good supervisor and being a good leader? This webinar will provide a brief history of approaches to leadership and review current leadership theories and practices. An an emphasis will be placed on contemporary approaches to effective leadership in the modern workplace. This session will address many questions related to leadership, such as "How concerned should supervisors be with their leadership style?" and "What can I do to improve how I lead?" In addition, cutting-edge research findings will be presented concerning the importance of being an effective leader and how different styles of leadership can impact employee health, job satisfaction, and productivity.

    Communication and the Human Side of Work
    Wednesday, April 2, 2014 (10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, EST)
    Communication is not simply a “soft” skill, but a vital “human” skill for the workplace; effective leadership is simply not possible without effective communication. In this session, attendees will be presented with a communications model to help them understand the many aspects of interpersonal and organizational communication. Attendees will learn how to work effectively with -and adapt to- the diverse communication styles found in today’s workplace. The session will also discuss what leaders can do to improve communication between employees to facilitate more effective –and productive- working relationships.

    Performance Management and Delegation
    Thursday, April 3, 2014 (10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, EST)
    It is difficult to successfully manage the performance of employees without fully understanding the different factors that affect performance outcomes. This session will present contemporary performance management methodologies and theories. Attendees will learn how to analyze performance problems to determine their root causes, work with poor performers to bring out their best, and integrate feedback and coaching components into their leadership styles. In addition, the session will include a thorough discussion on how to develop appropriate and efficient delegation strategies to improve overall organizational performance and productivity.

    About the Instructor

    Dr. Tippy Amick is a master facilitator of adult learners with over 20 years of experience in shaking up organizations and building individual excellence. She has served at the training director for multiple state agencies, been on the faculty at the Florida State University for over 15 years, and travels nationally to provide training on leadership, communication, and team building.     Registration Information

    Registration Cost: $150 per person

    Group Discount Rates: Agencies registering more than one person per session will receive a 10% on all registration ($135 for the entire series per registrant). A 20% discount will apply to agencies registering between 11 and 30 persons ($120 for the entire series per registrant), and agencies registering a total of 31 or more persons will receive a 30% discount on all registrations ($105 for the entire series per registrant).

    For group registrations, please download and return a completed copy of the GROUP REGISTRATION FORM. Your group discount will be calculated based on the total number of registrants listed in this form.

    A confirmation e-mail will be sent within 48 hours of your registration; an invoice and payment instructions will be included in the confirmation e-mail (payable by check or credit card). Webinar log-in instructions will be sent prior to the scheduled start of the webinar series.
